Camille shares a day in the life
Curious to learn more about her daily life and special role in the Dune Academy, we met up with Camille to ask a few questions:
Why live in Playa del Carmen? What are its advantages? And its secrets?
Playa del Carmen, and the Riviera Maya in general, is one of the few destinations in the world to be as rich in diving – in terms of quality and variety – as it is in culture.
Over a 65 km radius, you can swim along the fish-rich reefs of the Playa, stand in awe of the vertiginous drop-offs of the Cozumel Marine Park, and easily access the unique experience of cave diving and snorkeling in the magnificent Cenotes of the Yucatan Peninsula.
But that’s not all: the traditional village of Puerto Morelos, located just a few kilometers away, is home to a wreck that’s protected by a school of eagle rays – whose synchronized movements seem to circle the submerged metal carcass.
The Riviera Maya also offers an ideal diving and climatic environment year round, where you can train in different programs… In addition to basic training up to Divemaster and Instructor levels, the Yucatan Peninsula is one of the world’s hotspots for fishing, caving and technical diving.
All the big names in Tec diving have been there and the quality of teaching for technical programs is recognized worldwide.
Finally, when you come to Playa del Carmen, you’re in the cradle of Mayan culture: Mérida, Valladolid, Chitchen Itza, Tulum and Coba are only the best known places in its surroundings. The Yucatan Peninsula is in fact the gateway to the Mayan world, which extends to Honduras.
Let’s talk about the innovative Dune Academy. What are its strengths?
The Dune Academy is the only organization to date that offers so much room for growth as a diving professional. No other training center has the capacity to offer a comprehensive multi-destination training experience in professional recreational diving.
Offering much more than simple Instructor training, the Dune Academy provides complete support for your future career, opening the doors to not just Instructor level but guiding you through your professional success in the general diving industry.
The Dune Academy will celebrate its 2-year anniversary at the 2020 Paris Diving Show. As PADI Course Directors attached to Dune, we realized the incredible potential we had to unite our knowledge and experiences, offering future candidates unique training paths in the world of professional recreational diving that have never been seen before.
Thanks to the goodwill, passion and hardwork of the leaders of the Dune group, we succeeded in bringing the project to life.
Though there’s still a long way to go, the Dune Academy is already operating in 4 countries spread over 4 continents.
How do you see the Dune Academy in a few years’ time?
So many ideas and so much potential!!!! 😉
Even if some things remain works in progress, it’s clear to me that the Dune Academy will grow to become the go-to spot for people wishing to become diving professionals or explore the world of diving. So I imagine our growth will gradually require more and more team members. This is why we need you, future instructors!
